M anchester City have reached a preliminary agreement to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi during the January transfer window. The Premier League champions moved quickly for the England international centre-back after defensive injury problems involving Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.
Discussions between City and Palace have accelerated over the last 24 hours, with confidence growing that the transfer will be completed before the window closes.
Guehi, 25, is due to be out of contract in the summer and has drawn interest from several leading European clubs. He was close to sealing a move to Liverpool last summer, but the proposed 35 million transfer collapsed late on deadline day after he had already started his medical.
