After weeks of uncertainty whether Netball South Africas quadrennial Elective Conference would be sabotaged by suspended President Cecilia Molokwane or not, democracy triumphed and the federation has a new president.
Mami Diale, who served as acting president since Molokwanes suspension by World Netball for financial mismanagement and professional misconduct six month ago, will serve as president for the next four years.
Speaking shortly after being elected president Diale said, "Firstly, I would like to thank the Council Members for demonstrating such confidence in me and electing me as their new leader for the next five years. A big thank you also to all members who nominated me, this is no small feat, and I am truly honoured. Now that the elections are concluded, the real work begins. I have full confidence that the new leadership of Netball South Africa is ready and capable to continue with the business of the day and the work that lies ahead. We cannot be oblivious to what has happened in the past we now need to begin the work of restoration, rebuilding, and renewal. We must be intentional about doing the right thing, safeguarding our sport, and reclaiming its dignity. Time is a luxury we do not have - we need to hit the ground running." Other officials including Diale were also elected to serve on the Netball South Africa Executive Committee for the next four years:Mami Diale President
