malusi gigaba heads to court after exwife normas explosive claims in showmaxs untied

Former minister Malusi Gigaba is seeking a court interdict against the broadcast of explosive allegations made by his ex-wife, Norma Mngoma, in the upcoming Showmax talk show Untied .

Untied , which features several famous women sharing their divorce experiences, is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, 24 June 2025. Multi-award-winning broadcaster Relebogile Mabotja will be the host.

Once a high-profile couple in South Africas political scene, Gigaba and Mngoma had a public fallout that involved her testifying against him at the state capture commission of inquiry.

Authorities also arrested her in 2020 for alleged malicious damage to property, reportedly for damaging Gigabas car. The state withdrew the charges in 2021.

Malusi Gigaba seeks court order against Norma

According to Sunday World , Gigabas interdict application is set to be heard at the Johannesburg high court on Monday 23 June. It cites Showmax owner MultiChoice , producers GOAT Originals and Mngoma as respondents.

The ex-minister wants the court to block the broadcast of Mngomas claim that he was addicted to pornography during the time they were together.

Other claims he wants blocked include:

  • That he was involved in extramarital affairs.
  • That he inherited his alleged extramarital habits from his late father, who was a priest.
  • That he and Mngoma lived an extravagant lifestyle at taxpayers expense.
  • That he was involved in her 2020 arrest.

In court papers, Gigaba says the shows executive producer, Vanessa Tloubatla, contacted him on 29 May 2025 for his right of reply following Mngomas allegations.

Through his attorneys, he subsequently obtained and watched snippets of Mngomas Untied interview, after which he instructed his attorneys to apply for an interdict.

Gigaba claims the interview is not in the public interest and would taint his good name. Mngomas allegations would also infringe on his dignity, he adds.
