Deputy President Paul Mashatile says the processes of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry indicate the extent of the cleaning up the policing sector that needs to be done.
Mashatile was answering oral questions in the National Assembly. The commission and Parliaments Ad Hoc Committee are looking into allegations made by KZN Police Commissioner, Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system.
The deputy president, as the chairperson of the Cabinet Committee on Justice, Crime Prevention and Security, was asked whether he thinks the state of policing is a result of poor political leadership.
