lookman wants champions league football with atalanta

Ademola Lookman has set his sights on qualifying for the UEFA Champions League after helping Atalanta secure a 2-0 victory over Empoli on Sunday.

The Nigeria international is enjoying another productive season with Le Dea after sealing their win against the Azzurri on 51 minutes to take his tally for 2023-24 to nine goals in Serie A.

Gian Piero Gasperinis side moved up to sixth in the standings and they trail Roma by two points with a game in hand, while boasting a better goal difference.

With five teams from Italy being awarded spots in Europes elite club competition from the 2024-25 campaign onwards, the Lombardy outfit could still pip the Giallorossi to the final berth.

Lookman highlighted the importance of their latest triumph and believes Atalanta are primed to finish the season strongly, which also sees them through to the Copa Italia final and the Europa League semi-finals.

This victory is very important because we have to reach the Champions League. We also have commitments in the Italian Cup and the Europa League, winning today was important, the 26-year-old striker was quoted as saying by Napoli Magazine.

Roma are a strong team but so are we. We know that every match is difficult but we are ready to try to win them all.
