KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has taken the stand at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.
The commission, which retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseni Madlanga is chairing, is looking into Mkhwanazis allegations that senior police officials, including Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, interfere with police operations and have links to criminal syndicates. Mchunu is currently on leave of absence.
Some political parties have questioned the effectiveness of such inquiries.
