The London Internet Exchange LINX has announced a major upgrade to its data centre access management system, introducing a new portal-based process designed to enhance security, streamline operations, and give members greater control over their infrastructure access.

Under the updated protocol, all data centre access must now be arranged exclusively through the LINX Member Portal, replacing the previous system where authorised engineers could request entry or remote hands directly via email. The move marks a shift toward automation and transparency, aligning with LINX's broader commitment to strengthen security governance and reduce manual intervention.

With this update, colocation access lists - previously managed manually by the LINX Network Operations Centre NOC - can now be viewed, edited, and maintained directly within the portal. Members can instantly verify who has access and make adjustments as needed, ensuring records remain accurate and up to date.
