A 29-year-old woman from Kopermyn village in Ga-Maja outside Polokwane, in Limpopo has created a groundbreaking emergency and crime-fighting App.

Mapula Mailula designed the innovative App in 2022 to allow users to instantly send emergency alerts in time of distress to nearby authorities, with live location tracking information for immediate help.

The Application also uses a USSD code for those who are not using smart phones. Mailula says the App is a game-changer in the fight against Gender-based Violence , especially for those in rural areas.

"I grew up in a village where the police are far away. These are the areas that the App will be covering. I grew up in a place where I experienced GBV. I grew up without a mother so it was very difficult for me and others to report crime.

Community members, Lucas Mamabolo and Ntlhane Maja have appreciated Mailulas App design, saying that it will help to curb crime not only in their village but in the entire country.
