Liberia Highlights Telecommunications As Key To National Infrastructure At Nimba Conference

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications MoPT has lauded President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. for his visionary leadership during the opening of the National Infrastructure Conference in Gompa City, Nimba County on January 19. The conference emphasized the critical role of resilient infrastructure in national development, with a particular focus on telecommunications and digital connectivity.

President Boakai stressed the importance of quality, long-term infrastructure investments, drawing parallels between robust physical infrastructure and economic growth. He highlighted that telecommunications networks, broadband access, and digital systems are pivotal for e-commerce, education, governance, and inclusive development in Liberia.

Aligned with the ARREST Agenda, Africa's Agenda 2063, and the Sustainable Development Goals, the conference addressed challenges including unreliable electricity, decaying public assets, and fragmented digital infrastructure that has hindered connectivity and economic progress. The President called for innovative, coordinated solutions leveraging modern technology to rebuild Liberia's infrastructure sustainably.
