RB Leipzig have stepped up their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, identifying him as the ideal replacement for Xavi Simons, who is edging closer to a move to Chelsea .
Softfootball understands that talks between Leipzig and Liverpool are at an advanced stage, with the Bundesliga side readying a bid of around 30 million 25.9m. Liverpool, however, values the 22-year-old closer to 40 million 34.5m, meaning negotiations are expected to continue over payment structures and possible add-ons.
According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Elliott has already agreed to personal terms with Leipzig and is eager to make the switch in search of more consistent first-team football under Marco Rose. His playing time at Anfield has been limited under new manager Arne Slot, which has only strengthened his desire to move abroad.
