Major League Soccer side, LAFC, celebrated the addition of a global icon on Wednesday after officially announcing the signing of South Koreas Son Heung-min from Tottenham.
The 33-year-old reportedly cost 26 million, setting a record for Major League Soccer , according to ESPN and The Athletic, following a decade spent in the Premier League, where he gained widespread recognition.
An emotional Son revealed on Saturday in South Korea that he would be departing Spurs, just a few months after he helped the club end its 17-year wait for a trophy by winning the Europa League as captain.
"Sonny is a global icon and one of the most dynamic and accomplished players in world football," said LAFC co-president general manager John Thorrington.
We are proud that he has chosen Los Angeles for the next chapter of his extraordinary career.
