Cape Town Marathon star power landed in the Mother City on Tuesday when Eliud Kipchoge arrived at Cape Town International Airport to back the city's bid to become Africa's first Abbott World Marathon Major, Cape town Etc reports.
The Kenyan legend is in town for the 2026 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, 24 May and organisers say the race now forms the opening stop on his seven-continent running world tour.
Kipchoge kept the message close to home, saying: Cape Town is the only marathon whereby I'm really rooting for it. He added: This is our marathon and called on the 53 African countries to invest in the event, saying it helps sell our culture as Africans.
