Portfolio Committee on Police Chairperson Ian Cameron says the arrests of Crime Intelligence Head, Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo, and other high-ranking South African Police Service SAPS officials point to a deeper crisis inside the organisations senior leadership.
Yesterday, members of the National Prosecuting Authoritys NPA Investigating Directorate against Corruption IDAC arrested Khumalo and other senior officials at OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park on the East Rand.
They are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court today.
The exact nature of the charges is unknown, although corruption is suspected.
Cameron says he expects more arrests will be made in the coming months.
