Former President Kgalema Motlanthe has denied withdrawing from the first National Convention of the National Dialogue, saying his Foundation was not part of the preparatory process in the first place.
In a statement on Monday 18 August, he said he was unable to attend the Convention, which was held on 15-16 August, because of prior commitments with his Foundation.
Some media reports suggested that the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation had withdrawn from the Convention. This followed the withdrawal of other legacy foundations, including the Thabo Mbeki Foundation.
