Kenya Strengthens National-county Collaboration To Advance Digital Transformation

The Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy , H.E. William Kabogo Gitau, and Governor Wisley Rotich, Chair of the ICT and Knowledge Management Committee at the Council of Governors COG, have signed a set of resolutions with county governments following the ICT Intergovernmental Sector Forum. The move represents a significant step toward deeper coordination between national and county governments in the ICT sector.

The resolutions focus on harmonising wayleave and licensing frameworks, protecting critical digital infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity coordination, and accelerating the implementation of the Kenya National Digital Master Plan. These initiatives aim to reduce ICT deployment costs, improve service delivery, and support inclusive digital transformation across all 47 counties.

The Kenyan government reaffirmed its commitment to creating a coordinated, secure, and investor-friendly digital ecosystem that delivers tangible value to citizens, businesses, and communities nationwide.
