Kirinyaga County is taking major strides in embracing the digital economy, with key government interventions aimed at improving connectivity, education, and youth empowerment. Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, joined by the Mt. Kenya Leaders Caucus and the Secretary to the Cabinet, Ms. Mercy Wanjau, E.G.H, visited Kianwe Primary School in Kirinyaga West Sub-County to highlight the progress.
Under the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, the county has seen significant investments in digital infrastructure. A total of 102.4 km of fibre optic cable has been installed, linking all five sub-counties to the One Government Network OGN, thereby improving access to government services and public digital platforms.
In education and skills development, the government, through the Jitume Programme, has delivered over 200 computers to TVET institutions across Ndia, Mwea, and Kirinyaga Central. This initiative equips learners with vital digital skills to participate in the digital economy.
