Judicial Tribunal Into Judge Mbenenges Conduct Resumes

judicial tribunal into judge mbenenges conduct resumes

The Judicial Conduct Tribunal JCT tasked with investigating sexual harassment allegations against Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge will continue in Johannesburg on Monday.

The tribunal will sit for the next 10 days.

It stems from a complaint filed in January 2023 by Andiswa Mengo, a Judges secretary. She alleges that Mbenenge sexually harassed her between June 2021 and November 2022.

The previous leg of the tribunal in January saw Mengo take the stand and place her version of events before the national lens. This May leg will now afford him the opportunity to do the same.

While it is not clear whether the Mbenenge will take the stand, his legal team is expected to call in witnesses to support his defence, which could include an emoji expert as revealed in the January leg of the Tribunal.
