With a skateboard under his feet and a purpose far bigger than the road ahead, Los Angeles skater Jason Vanporppal has officially arrived in Johannesburg as part of an extraordinary journey that is turning heads across the continent, Cape town Etc reports.
His mission is as bold as it sounds: skate across Africa to raise enough money to help build a permanent skatepark in Uganda. For most people, the idea of crossing thousands of kilometres on a skateboard would sound impossible. For Vanporppal, that was exactly the point, as reported by The Citizen.
He said the challenge began with a simple thought: finding something people would immediately dismiss as unachievable, then doing it for a cause that could genuinely change lives.
