Japan will introduce a dual pricing system in July in which foreign tourists will be charged more than Japanese residents at theme parks, historic landmarks and cultural sites.

At Junglia Okinawa, a nature-themed park opening in July, overseas visitors will be charged 8 800 R1 076 per day.

The countrys shrines and temples have proposed charging tourists a daily rate of 1 000 R122.

Pricing adjustments are expected at popular sites like Kyotos Kiyomizu Temple, currently 500 R61 per day Fushimi Inari Shrine currently free of charge and Naras Todaiji Temple, currently 800 R98 per day. Officials will monitor the system before expanding it further.
