Italy introduced a remote workers visa on April 4. It aims to attract non-EU citizens with high skill-sets.

The visa is open to collaborators, employees or self-employed workers, allowing them to live in Italy for up to one year.

In March, the Italian government revealed that applicants for the digital nomad visa would need to have a minimum annual income of 28 000 (R563 000), plus have health insurance, accommodation, a declaration from their employer, and at least six months of experience as a digital nomad or remote worker elsewhere.
