Strandfonteins ageing pavilion is moving closer to a full transformation, with the City of Cape Town unveiling updated designs and cultural mapping findings at a public open day this past weekend, reports Cape town Etc .
According to the Citys statement, the multi-year refurbishment is being funded through the Recreation and Parks Department and aims to restore the coastal landmark while improving access to its sought-after tidal pool, the largest in the southern hemisphere.
What the upgrade includesThe redevelopment will see unsafe parts of the structure removed, salvageable areas refurbished and access to coastal amenities improved. Plans also include a renovated amphitheatre, upgraded parking areas and refreshed landscaping to create a more welcoming seaside experience.
