The ceremony brought together players, coaches and Legends from across the continent and beyond in a showcase of excellence as African football continues to gain prominence globally.
Paris Saint-Germain right-back Hakimi earned the Men's Player of the Year honour after an exceptional 2025 in which he lifted the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, French Ligue 1, Coupe de France and reached the FIFA Club World Cup final. He also played a key role in securing Morocco's qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Hakimi is the first defender to win the award since TP Mazembe's Bwanga Tshimen in 1973 and the first Moroccan recipient since Mustapha Hadji in 1998.
