Softfootball understands that Jean-Philippe Mateta has been dealing with a knee issue since November. Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed this and also shed a new light on the striker's recent failed move to AC Milan. Speaking via comments updated by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle , Glasner explained that the situation had been carefully managed because Mateta was determined to remain fully involved and continue playing.
According to Glasner, Mateta also informed the club of his intention to leave, which prompted further discussions about his future. AC Milan subsequently assessed the forward during medical tests but decided not to proceed with the transfer and not sign Jean-Philippe, Glasner added that further assessments are now planned to determine the best long-term solution for the player.
