The Gauteng Health Department will begin the phased rollout of the new HIV prevention injection, Lenacapavir , on Monday.
Gauteng has been identified as a key implementation site, as the countrys most populous province and one of the regions with a high HIV burden.
The department says Lenacapavir will be introduced at 133 facilities across the province, targeting those at high risk of HIV infections. The rollout forms part of a nationwide initiative announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa last week.
