The Democratic Alliance DA in Gauteng believes what the provincial Education Department is experiencing is self-inflicted, with over 4 000 learners still need to be placed in schools for the 2026 academic year.
The partys provincial shadow MEC for Education, Sergio Dos Santos says the department is facing learner placement pressure due to starting the application process late last year.
He says theyve also received complaints of children being provided with options of schools that were very far from their homes.
