Frankenburg Technologies , a European defence tech startup, just landed 30 million in Series A funding . Some of the top European investors jumped in, with Plural, the well-known Estonian VC, leading the charge. SmartCap, Estonia's state-backed investment fund, also invested a lot. This latest round pushes Frankenburg's total funding up to about 40 million since they launched. Clearly, investors are getting serious about defence tech and Europe's ability to make its own hardware.

The company started in 2024, put together by a bunch of aerospace and defence experts. Their timing couldn't be better. Europe's security situation keeps shifting, and new threats, especially drones and cheap attack systems, are popping up everywhere. Old-school missile production is expensive and slow, which just doesn't work anymore. Frankenburg wants to shake things up by mass-producing affordable missile systems so Europe doesn't have to rely so much on imports. With this new funding, they're moving faster on that mission.

A New Approach to Defence Manufacturing

The Tallinn-based firm focuses on designing missile systems that are affordable and easy to manufacture and are able to integrate into existing defence systems. A prime example is the Mark I short-range interceptor missile, which is currently being industrialized and took only a little over a year to reach that stage, a stark contrast to the typical defence procurement cycle.
