Four suspects are facing murder charges after the death of 30-year-old Metro Police Constable Tyler Lamb, who died in the line of duty during a chase in Kensington last Friday.
Lamb, a member of Cape Town's recently deployed Neighbourhood Safety Officers, was pursuing suspects involved in a shooting when he fell from a rooftop during a confrontation. Despite being rushed to hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries, as reported by Smile FM .
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith confirmed that the City's Special Investigations Unit SSIU linked the suspects to the fatal incident. He explained that officers had been conducting a vehicle checkpoint along Voortrekker Road when they noticed a Toyota Yaris driver acting suspiciously.
