The Fire and Rescue Service has reported its response to a staggering 236 accidents over a 10-day period, from Friday, 27 June to Sunday, 6 July.
Within this period, the service attended to 162 motor vehicle accidents and 74 pedestrian incidents, reports Cape town Etc .
Mayco member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, expressed grave concern over these figures, noting that they may not fully encapsulate the reality of road dangers.
Whats even more concerning is that these statistics are not exhaustive, many incidents go unreported, especially where no injuries are involved, leading individuals to file reports directly at police stations instead, he remarked.
Smith urged road users to adjust their driving behaviour in accordance with the prevailing conditions.
