South Africas Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy, Samantha Graham-Mar , has urged all owners of large public and private buildings to register for an energy performance certificate EPC without delay, warning that the December 7 deadline will not be extended.
According to Graham-Mar, the number of registered buildings has risen only modestly since mid-year from 7 113 in July to 7 988 with 4 342 EPCs issued as of October 15. The national target remains around 60 000 registrations.
The registration of all large public and private buildings for an EPC can no longer be delayed, said Graham-Mar. Owners must initiate this process immediately.
