fikile mbalula comments on failed politician floyd shivambus mk party demotion

African National Congress ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has described Floyd Shivambus demotion in uMkhonto weSizwe MK Party as a horrible political accident.

MK Party removed Shivambu as its Secretary-General in early June, citing his unsanctioned trip to meet alleged fugitive Shepherd Bushiri in Malawi in April.

He is now embarking on a national consultation process on potentially forming a new political party, just seven months after his appointment as Secretary-General.

At a media briefing last week, he declared that he will not rejoin the ANC . He described it as directionless, adding, It doesnt know what its doing. Its in collaboration with the white system now.

Speaking on the sidelines of the National Union of Mineworkers national congress on Tuesday 24 June, Mbalula said Shivambu doesnt have any record of giving direction to anything.

So, we just take that as slanderous remarks coming from a failed politician. But we wish him luck in whatever that he wishes to achieve, he added.

According to Mbalula, the ANC has a guiding document that is reviewed regularly based on prevailing circumstances, such as the current government of national unity. This document shapes the ANCs direction, he explained.

So, we dont do things because we are in an accident. Floyd is in a huge accident. It is unbelievable that you can be in a party for less than a year and then you get chucked out, he said.

From being promoted to the highest position, and you craft constitutions and people then just leave you and deal with you that way. It must be understood that when youre faced with an accident, its a horrible experience. Thats what hes going through.

Shivambu couldnt help but respond to Mbalulas comments. You'll be fine Comrade SG. Mayibuye iAfrika! he wrote in a reply to Mbalulas video on X .
