The facelifted Hyundai Tucson has arrived in South Africa, sporting a price cut as it seeks to claw back some market share from an ever-increasing array of Chinese rivals.

The rationalised Tucson range now consists of three derivatives, kicking off with the 2.0 Premium auto priced at R559,900, which is R39,000 cheaper than its predecessor.

Topping the line-up is a pair of diesel models, with the 2.0D Executive priced at R709,900 and the 2.0D N Line at R859,900.

The midsize Hyundai SUV now undercuts rivals such as the Kia Sportage, from R662,995, as well as the Toyota Rav4 R712,700 and Volkswagen Tiguan R664,500.

In the process it edges closer to Chinese alternatives like the Haval H6 R492,050, MG HS R499,900 and Jaecoo J7 R549,900.
