Emam Ashour picked up the injury during the Red Devils' goalless draw with Inter Miami in the Club World Cup opener and underwent an operation at a hospital in the United States.
After medical assessments confirmed the procedure went well, the 26-year-old was cleared to fly home to begin his recovery.
Meanwhile, head coach Jose Riveiro has closed Al Ahly's training sessions ahead of their final group-stage clash against Porto, in line with tournament regulations and to maintain squad focus.
Al Ahly currently sit bottom of Group A with one point, level with Porto, while Palmeiras and Inter Miami lead the group with four points each.
The decisive match between Al Ahly and Porto will take place at 4 a.m. Cairo time on Tuesday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
