Egypt Positions As Regional Hub For Ict Innovation In Talks With Uk Officials

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Amr Talaat, hosted the British Ambassador to Egypt, Mark Bryson-Richardson, to discuss ways of enhancing joint cooperation and investment in the ICT sector between Egypt and the United Kingdom. The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships, attracting British companies to Egypts offshoring industry, and expanding collaboration in digital transformation and skills development.

Discussions also covered cooperation in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence AI, cloud computing, data centers, cybersecurity, FinTech, and digital infrastructure, with the goal of leveraging Egypts strategic position as a regional hub and gateway to African markets. The meeting emphasized fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup growth across both countries.

Dr. Talaat highlighted the breadth of ongoing cooperation between Egypt and the UK in ICT and expressed a desire to expand collaboration to academic programs. He proposed partnerships between the Egypt University of Informatics EUI and leading British universities, as well as initiatives to enhance digital capacity-building programs. The Minister also underscored Egypts competitive advantages, particularly its highly qualified ICT talent pool, to attract further investment from British companies.
