The Economic Freedom Fighters EFF has announced that it will march to the Constitutional Court to demand the release of a judgement in the Phala Phala matter.
In February 2024, the party challenged Parliaments 2022 decision to reject an independent panel report that had recommended an impeachment inquiry against President Cyril Ramaphosa . The African National Congress ANC used its majority at the time to vote against the reports adoption.
The report found that prima facie, Ramaphosa may have committed serious violations of the Constitution and serious misconduct. It stemmed from the theft of 580,000 in cash at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo in February 2020 and the subsequent police investigation.
