The Eastern Cape Transport Department says it is hopeful it will keep the downward trajectory of road fatalities in the province until the end of the holiday season.
The department says it has recorded a decrease in the number of fatalities recorded on the roads compared to the previous year during this period.
A number of roadblocks were set up across the province with a major one at Kei Bridge just outside Butterworth as traffic volumes continue to peak.
