Nigerian actor, lawyer and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has firmly stated that Nigeria's diversity and commitment to democracy make a one-party system very unlikely.
In an interview with Newscentral on Tuesday, Okonkwo explained that Nigeria's political landscape is far too diverse for any one party to dominate, as some have suggested.
"There's no way a one-party system could ever take over Nigeria," he said. "We're too diverse, too aware, and too democratic for that. A one-party state feels like a dictatorship, where one person controls everything. Nigerians won't allow that."
