Police in the Cape Winelands are grappling with the heart-wrenching circumstances surrounding the tragic death of an eight-year-old boy at Klapmuts Primary School.
Matthew Cheswin Baartman, a grade three learner, passed away following an incident on Friday morning, and authorities are now striving to determine the cause of this untimely loss.
The unsettling incident was reported at approximately 07:45am on 23 January 2026. Matthew was immediately taken to a medical facility after the event, where he was sadly declared deceased.
