da gauteng to table motion to reverse centralised food parcel system

The Democratic Alliance DA in Gauteng says its tabling a motion in the provincial legislature to debate a proposal to reverse the centralisation of the food parcel distribution to community-based non-profit organisations and regional food banks.

The partys shadow MEC for Social Development, Refiloe Ntsekhe, says this follows the revelation by Gauteng Health MEC, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko that over 8,000 child malnutrition cases were observed in the provinces clinics and hospitals last year.

Ntsekhe says Social Development MEC, Faith Mazibukos decision to centralise food bank operations is causing mayhem.
