Terence Crawford has been stripped of his WBC super middleweight title due to a financial issue, paving the way for a matchup between Britains Hamzah Sheeraz and Frances Christian Mbilli for the now vacant world championship.
Crawford stunned Mexican star Saul Canelo Alvarez in September, achieving the remarkable feat of being the first fighter to secure undisputed titles across three different weight classes.
However, the WBC has stated that the American has failed to pay his sanctioning fees from that victory, as well as from his previous bout in 2024 against Israil Madrimov.
