A raid by the Department of Correctional Services is underway at the St Albans Correctional Centre outside Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape.
Operations started with the search of officials reporting for duty and the vehicles entering the centre.
The unannounced operation aims to ensure safety within the premises for officials and prisoners.
