The South African Football Association SAFA has broken its silence on the ongoing project to implement a Video Assistant Referee VAR system in South African football, following an announcement published by the Department of Sports, Art and Culture on the progress of the project.
In a statement released by the South African governments Department of Sports, Art and Culture on Monday, the department revealed that SAFAs VAR Project Leader Daniel Bennett recently paid a visit to the operations of Quality, a global VAR supplier, in Spain. Bennet reportedly met with the companys President of Quality, Mr Pablo Reyes, in Madrid.
The department called the trip a fact-finding mission forming part of Minister Gayton McKenzies commitment to fast-tracking the introduction of Video Assistant Referee VAR technology into South African football.
