Chinese vehicle manufacturer Chery will acquire the assets of Nissans Rosslyn plant in Pretoria, signaling the end of nearly 60 years of Nissan vehicle assembly in the country.
Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau welcomed the announcement of the investment by Chery South Africa in the automotive sector.
The deal will allow Chery to establish a permanent manufacturing footprint in the country. According to a statement by the department, the acquisition by Chery SA is subject to regulatory approvals.
