The City of Cape Town says it is ready to provide the Constitutional Court with an updated picture of its affordable housing programme after the court ruled that new reports should be filed in the long-running matter involving the former Tafelberg property, now known as 353 on Main, Cape town Etc reports.

According to the City , the court recognised that much has changed since the original case record was compiled about eight years ago, making it necessary for government to present updated information on the progress made and the challenges that remain.

The former Tafelberg site has been at the centre of years of public debate over affordable housing in well-located areas close to jobs, schools and public transport. The Western Cape Government has already committed to developing the property for affordable housing.
