Construction has officially begun on the Saxdowne Shopping Centre, a new 6 000m retail development set to transform the high-traffic intersection of Stellenbosch Arterial and Saxdowne Roads in Cape Town.
Developed by Abland, the centre will be anchored by major retailers Shoprite and Clicks, offering visitors a seamless and easily navigable shopping experience. The project is designed with Cape Town's raw, rustic charm in mind, featuring exposed brickwork and industrial-style accents to evoke a sense of warmth and nostalgia, as per the Daily Investor .
Saxdowne Shopping Centre is being built on a 1.8-hectare site, providing 6 027m of gross lettable area. Nearby suburbs such as Jagtershof, Silver Oaks and St Dumas are expected to benefit from its central location and accessibility. Abland confirmed that the project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.
