Cape Town's Urban Waste Management Directorate has expressed heartfelt thanks to residents for taking part in the 2024 City of Cape Town Household Survey, which has played a key role in tracking the City's progress toward cleaner, healthier communities.

According to the City's report and statement from Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management Alderman Grant Twigg, the vast majority of homes in Cape Town reported that their trash is collected on a regular schedule. In formal residential areas, that number climbs to over 97, showing strong consistency in weekly waste collection.

However, the City acknowledges that services in informal settlements still need more attention and improvement, where operational challenges like hijackings and attacks on frontline staff continue to pose risks.
