The City of Cape Town said its electricity teams are working around the clock to restore power across the metro after severe weather caused widespread damage to infrastructure, leaving thousands of residents affected by outages, Cape town Etc reports.
According to the City, approximately 4 800 electricity-related service requests remained outstanding by Tuesday following the intense storm conditions that battered the metro since Monday morning.
Officials warned that prolonged outages are likely in some areas due to the extent of the infrastructure damage and exceptionally high call volumes.
