From upgraded swimming pools and libraries to expanded cemetery infrastructure and improved sports facilities, the City of Cape Town is planning to invest more than R366 million in community infrastructure during the 2026/27 financial year.

The proposed capital budget, announced by the City , forms part of the Community Services and Health Directorates draft spending plans and targets projects aimed at improving public spaces and essential facilities used by residents across Cape Town.

Among the largest allocations are R63.5 million for cemetery upgrades, R20 million for swimming pool improvements, R20 million for the Vygieskraal Stadium cycling track, R19.5 million to rebuild Suider-Strand Library, and just over R9 million to refurbish the Strandfontein Pavilion.
