Cape Town has made history as the first South African city to appoint a Chief Heat Officer, a move following at addressing the growing threat of extreme heat events linked to climate change.
According to the City of Cape Town , Albert Ferreira, who currently serves as the City's Manager for Resilience and Climate Change, will take on the new role to lead public awareness and drive heat mitigation strategies.
Ferreira's appointment marks a significant step forward as the city experiences more frequent and intense heat waves.
