CAMTEL has welcomed 127 young professionals into its workforce as part of the first cohort of its Professional Integration Program for Young Graduates PIJ, an initiative designed to accelerate youth employment and strengthen operational capacity in Cameroon's telecommunications sector.
Selected from a pool of 270 applicants drawn from top universities and institutes across the country, the recruits underwent an intensive two-week training program combining theoretical lessons with hands-on field experience. The curriculum covered core telecommunications concepts, network operations, maintenance procedures, and FTTH installation standards. Trainees were also introduced to service quality metrics, KPIs, and professional best practices.
Practical sessions formed a major part of the training, with participants engaging in copper and fiber optic installation, sleeve manufacturing, optical splicing, field testing, data interpretation, and real-time troubleshooting-providing them with direct exposure to field operations.
