South Africas Johannesburg Stock Exchange remains the continents heavyweight venue for public capital. Founded in 1887 and now based in Sandton, the JSE is one of Africas most important stock markets by market value and liquidity, and the primary listing venue for many of the regions biggest blue chips.
The past year has been kind to equity holders. The JSEs headline indices have rallied strongly over the last 12 months, lifting the paper wealth of founders, executives, and long term blockholders who sit on the share registers of banks, insurers, retailers, telecoms, and mining companies.
This is Billionaires.Africas 2026 ranking of the richest investors on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, measured by the estimated market value of their publicly listed equity stakes and expressed in US dollars.
